It's Maisy!!

Lia has a fun book that she enjoys about Maisy. In the book ("Where's Maisy?"), Maisy hides and you look under several flaps before someone knocks at the door... you open the door (flap) and .... "It's Maisy!". When you get to this part of the book Lia always says... "It's Maimee!"

Well, today, Maisy was at the Barnes and Noble storytime. We went down, sat (read squirmed) through story time and then got to meet Maisy IN PERSON!!!

Lia kept saying... Maimee... Maimee... I mean, Maisy is BIG in her world right now!
Here's a picture of their meeting. We didn't get Maisy's autograph...do rat's give autographs??

Bubba (my big book)

This is Bubba...it's my big book. (Lia really does call it "buuba")

I like to turn the BIG pages and look at the BIG pictures. There are a lot of pictures in Bubba and I know some of the words. There's a ball (ba), flowers (pritty), duck, shoes (shuus), owl (it says hoo, hoo), cow, (it says mmmm), lion (it says raaar), and the puppy (oof, oof , of course).

Anyway, I love my Bubba and I LOVE when my Daddy reads to me from it. Someday I think I want to know all the words!
Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes....Knees and Toes

This is Lia's new favorite song and she freezes everytime you start singing it to touch her knees and toes. She's gotten really good at identifying her parts, but I need to add some more to the list. Here are a few other favorites right now....

Tongue (Daddy has one too!)

Nose "no, no"

Elbow

Toes (of course)

..and has anyone seen my bellybutton. I know it's down her somewhere!

Things I love....Puppies and G!

We went to Nashville to visit G and Papa and meet Mommy's friend Ms Em'ly and her husband Mr. Dave. Ms Em'ly and Mr. Dave are having a baby in October so we celebrated together in Nashville. They are so much fun and this was the first time I had met Mr. Dave. Mommy says he's kind of silly sometimes, but I think he's lots of fun. We also got to see their dogs... Tucker and Maddy when we took them to the park. Tucker and Maddy are very cool dogs and even have a blog of their own. (the dogs blog)

Tucker is a little more calm than Maddy and let me sit next to him....

and pet him....

and even give him a kiss....

I had a lot of fun at the park with everyone. Hey, you look kinda funny from here!

Mommy, Daddy, Ms. Em'ly and Mr. Dave went out for a double date (in G-Mommy's convertible) on Friday night and then we had a fun breakfast on Saturday. We all got the new baby it's first bag and all the stuff he or she will need to be on the go.

Here's a photo of us before we left to go back to Atlanta....

Thank you, G and Papa, for letting us stay at your house...it was so much fun. We love you!

Ms. Em'ly and Mr. Dave.... I can't wait to come visit after you have the baby...I love babbeez, too!

Is anyone reading this?

I know there are a few of you out there... Brendon, G, and Nana.....that are a little addicted to this blog, but I was sitting around the other day wondering who else checks out the posts. So, let me know who you are, O' readers of the blog - I'm very curious.

Long skinny feet

Since I have been walking more and more, Mommy decided to get me some sandals. This is the first big girl pair of shoes that I have and I think I like them.

But the real suprise came when the lady at the store measured me and said I wore a size 5. Mommy didn't think I was a 5 yet b/c my feet are skinny, but they are REALLY long too. Guess I'm growing everywhere!

Check out my new shoes...

And one of my pretty blue eyes...

Happy 4th of July (a little late)

With the 4th in the middle of the week this year it was a little low key. We did go over to Haley's house and cook out and play in the baby pool.

Haley chillin' in the pool

Noah sporting his sunhat and shades...

Walking Machine

Since her first steps last weekend Lia is taking more and more. For those of you that won't believe it until you see it...

Ending with "A- Poof" as she slams into the pillows. This is a little game that Lia and Daddy play and she thinks pillows are called "A-Poofs" now.
Snackin'

"Hey Mom, we are out of DP...can you put it on the list?"

(announcer voice)
"No babies were actually given Dr. Pepper in the taking of this picture"

but we did give Lia a lick of a popsicle...yummy!!

Visit to Charlotte

What is summer without a fun roadtrip?!?!?
Mom and Dad loaded up the minivan and we headed to Charlotte for the weekend to see the fam!
from L to R - Uncle Geoff, Auntie Mac, Aunt Cindy, Great Jeff,
Papa B, (me), Nana, Daddy and Mommy

We went to the pool at a friends' house and played with the "ba" (ball)

I wore my sunglasses (only for a minute)

and played in their waterfall...

They even had a bucket there to talk into...

I love buckets - heehee...

Back at the house Daddy helped Papa B mow the lawn and
I got a ride on Papa B's

Oh, and just a little thing.... I took my first steps!!!! Everyone was so busy watching they didn't get a real picture, but when I walked over to the glass doors Mommy snapped this one....

Engineerin' a Fort

Did you know my Grandaddy Bill was an engineer? Papa and Uncle Kimball are engineers too! I wonder if they have ever engineered a fort before? It's really fun especially the inspection part. You get to climb in the fort and make sure the sides don't fall down.

This one that Daddy and I built looks pretty good to me!!!

Outta Here....

Just a little glimpse of our baby headed for the stairs. I remember feeling like she would NEVER learn to crawl and now she's about to walk. I love that I can see the motion of her feet and I don't want to forget the little patter of her hands on the floor.
What a precious girl!

A Few of my favorite things...

I have the BEST toys... I mean who doesn't love a Ball Bopper?!?!?! but today I want to give you a little tour of some of my other favorites. I will save the ball bopper for another day.

First, books... man do I love books. I mean, they open and close - the pages are fun to turn and I love looking at the pictures. This is one of my favorite that my G-Mommy gave me. I like to look at it upside down b/c it's a little more challenging that way.

And I have a ring stacker unlike any other. Who needs the donut shaped stacker from way back when you can have one that plays songs. Don't your toys play songs too? Well, I figured out early on that you didn't have to stack the rings for it to play the song - you just have to push the *little* button on the very tip top. So, I like to push the button - read a book - and then when the song is over I push it again... Mommy says I'm a little DJ.

My new favorite toy has got to be this COOL bucket... it's a shape sorter, but I like to dump all the shapes out and talk into the bucket. It makes the funniest sounds! It always makes me laugh... especially when Daddy does it too.

So, if you are having a bad day today...just do like I do...put on one of your favorite tunes, read a book, or if all else fails - talk into a bucket!

Happy Summer Sun
Have any of you ever been to the pool with me? the beach? I'm the one whose always putting sunscreen (the thick stuff) on me, my sweet husband and now my daughter. With a big 'ol family history of melanoma I'm more than a little cautious, but I wanted to remind all of you to be cautious too.

Did you know that 80% of skin damage happens before the age of 18? That means that the little spot I had biopsied today at the dermologist probably got it's start way back when! So slather up you and the kids before you go to the park, out to the pool or wherever. It's worth the investment in your/their health.

I know... I know... you want cute pictures of Lia, but blogging is kinda like having a soapbox so your just lucky I don't give my opinion every entry :)

And, as a thank you for reading this public service announcement... here's a little picture of our angel....

Rockin' it like Steve Fee....

I woke up the other day from my nap and Mommy and Daddy kept saying my hair looked like Steve Fee's do. Steve, aka Fee-Dog leads worship at our church and is a cool dad himself.

What do you think? Do you see any similarity?

Me...

Steve Fee....
